REAL - Online Clothing Shopping App

Project Overview

To design an interactive and user-friendly mobile application for an online clothing store that reduces clothing return rates. A mobile application designed leveraging on Interaction User Experience (IUX) design principles can significantly enhance the online shopping experience thus reduces the high return rates. By employing advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and augmented reality, the application could provide customers with a more personalized and interactive experience. Personalized size recommendations and a virtual try-on feature could increase user confidence in the fit and appearance of clothing items, consequently reducing the frequency of returns.

The target audience is primarily young to middle-aged adults who are tech-savvy and frequently shop online. They value efficiency, detailed product information, and a personalized shopping experience.

Problem

Sizing and fit present a significant challenge in online clothing retail. In physical stores, customers can try on different sizes and styles until they find the perfect fit. However, in the online space, customers have to rely on provided size charts, which are often inconsistent across different brands, leading to confusion and uncertainty. This issue is compounded by the lack of standardization in sizing among different clothing brands. 

A size 'medium' for one brand could equate to a size 'large' for another. This discrepancy makes it difficult for customers to know their exact size, especially when shopping from new brands. As a result, they may end up ordering multiple sizes to ensure they get the right fit, thereby increasing the likelihood of returns. As the shift towards online shopping continues to grow, the problem becomes more pronounced and urgent to address. 

Goal

The mobile application design is aimed at enhancing the online clothing shopping experience. The application, underpinned by advanced technologies and user experience design strategies, seeks to address critical factors contributing to high return rates. The research process, marked by comprehensive user research, iterative design, and testing, and the evaluation of the solution's effectiveness to provide a roadmap for enhancing customer confidence and reducing returns in the online clothing retail sector
